They have Halloween fun just like their older friends! Infants can enjoy costumes just as much as older toddlers and preschoolers. Infants appreciate a change of pace and scenery. As our children at Little Lambs trick-or-treat through the classrooms, our infants get to enjoy seeing everyone in their special Halloween attire. Infants are invited to wear their costumes as well and participate in our annual Spooky Halloween Parade! Who said Halloween was just for kids? The infants and teachers at Little Lambs know Halloween is for everyone.

Our little lambs just love to celebrate Halloween. Dressing up helps children express themselves, show their personal creativity and is just plain fun. At Little Lambs, we celebrate with a party, games, trick-or-treating through the building and finally with a parade. On Tuesday October 31, 2017, all children and teachers are welcome to wear their costumes to school all day. Parents are invited to our spooky parade at 3:45pm. Please join us as our parade is a perfect photo opportunity. Have a wonderful week and be safe trick-or-treating!
-Miss Jen Art has many purposes. Whether it's to instill creativity or freedom of expression, Arts and Crafts are always key but something we don't often consider is the impact of Art decorating the classroom. Children enjoy making things, getting messy and being proud of what they've made but the impact of pointing up at the windows or walls and saying to mom and dad or even just friends "Hey. I made that." is just as relevant as taking a project home to show the family. There's a sense of contribution and community in sharing arts and crafts on walls, boards, and windows, working together to brighten a classroom. It's just plain fun too.
- Mister Pat Several times throughout the day we read in our classrooms, all of our classrooms, including the infant room! A love of books and emerging reading skills starts in infancy. Infants can and should participate in lap-reading with an adult everyday. Infants should explore books in a variety of ways including: gazing, babbling, patting, and pointing at books. Infants should be allowed to explore a variety of different books that include pictures, things to touch, things that pop-up and represent different people, places and objects. We want our little lambs to grow up loving books, don’t you?
- Miss Elisabeth Our little lambs had a special visitor for Fire Prevention! Mr. Orison is a volunteer firefighter/Driver and Pump Operator for Chalfont Fire Company and he brought his gear, along with some fire prevention goodies, for our little lambs. Mr. Orison showed the kids what a firefighter looks like and sounds like so if they ever need to be rescued, they will not be afraid. He taught them all about fire prevention, fire safety, Stop, Drop and Roll, family escape routes and what to do if their house catches fire Mr. Orison even let the children try on his gear (it weighs a lot!) We have been working on fire prevention, safety and education all month long. It saves lives!
- Miss Jenn The toddlers just love getting messy. We have been learning about the color orange this month, so it's perfect timing for Halloween. We have made little pumpkins out of our hands . All the kids love shouting what they plan on being for Halloween and they are so excited to go trick or treating. They can't wait to dress up and collect lots of candy.
- Miss Sabrina What is object permanence? It is the understanding that an object exists even when it cannot be physically perceived. The phrase "out of sight, out of mind" truly applies to early infancy. When an infant of five or six months is interested in an object, it is possible to move the object out of the child's sight and, as far as the child is concerned, it has ceased to exist. This concept is the beginning of the actual thought process in infants! Person permanence is the concept that if you cover the person, as in the game Peek-a-Boo, they do not exist until uncovered. Person permanence is important to attachment and the health and wellbeing of infants both socially and emotionally. So the next time you see us playing Peek-a-Boo, remember, it is not just a silly game...but the beginning of an infant’s ability to perform higher thought processes! Cool, huh?
- Miss Elisabeth A few weeks ago our little lambs had a surprise visit with my family’s fourth foster puppy Erin. The dog rescue my family is fostering for, Stray Network Animal Rescue, rescues dogs and puppies (many of them are pregnant mamma dogs) many of which would be euthanized in the mid south and brings them north to be fostered and find their furever families! For every puppy we send to a furever home, it saves two lives...one more opening in the shelter in the south and one in our home. Erin is one lucky little pup as she has found her forever home and our little lambs were so excited to see pictures of her enjoying her new life with her new family. We are lucky that Little Lambs shares our love and respect of animals and supports us in our new adventure of fostering! My hope is that our little lambs will grow up respecting their friends, their environment and animals! Remember...ADOPT don't shop! www.straynetwork.org
- Miss Jennifer We learned about fire prevention this week. It's always good for the children to know what to do in a fire. We have practiced stop, drop, and roll. The kids really enjoyed practicing that. We talked about all the things we should do in an emergency and to call 911 only when we need help. Today, we made fire trucks out of our feet and even made siren noises.
- Miss Sabrina In October, the preschool class has been learning about Community Helpers. Firefighters, EMTs, Police Officers, Garbage Men and Construction Workers all play an important part in keeping communities safe, healthy, and clean. Taking an opportunity to learn more about each job and how it contributes to a community widens the perspective of young learners to not just the world itself but their place within it and what they can do to make it even better.
